Job summary: The Credit Manager will provide top quality customer service and attention to both internal and external customers, with the goal of ensuring that assigned ABCO customers are within their credit terms. This will directly contribute to ABCO’s mission of exceeding our customers’ highest expectations by ensuring that our accounts receivables are within terms and allow ABCO to manage its credit risk while optimizing sales and collections for the Company.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in commercial credit and collections role. Must have credit and financial analysis experience as well as payment bond experience
- Background in distribution or construction-related industry preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred OR equivalent work experience
- Skills and Traits:
- Demonstrated knowledge of credit and collection policies and procedures, and credit risk
- Strong problem solving
- Effective communication skills- both verbal and written, with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and ethically with both internal and external customers
- Goal oriented, motivated self-starter
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Detail oriented
- Computer Skills:
- Strong PC skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Experience with Microsoft suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with SxE a plus
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Account Management
- Maintain a credit portfolio of over 500 assigned customer accounts, ensuring that past due and collection metrics are achieved
- Develop and maintain positive and professional customer relationships
- Communicate information to customers in an effective and timely manner regarding past due invoices, payment trends, resolutions of disputed invoices, and other matters related to past due receivables
- Regularly review delinquent accounts to determine root causes of past due balances
- Research and efficiently resolve the status of past due invoices and maintain detailed reports of receivables and collections activity
- Accept and process payments by phone
- Provide support to customers to effectively resolve collection issues, such as discrepancies, reconcile disputes, and short payments, and to answer customer inquiries about statements or invoices
- Develop an understanding of customers’ businesses in order to effectively assess credit risk
- Monitor and keep a record of the lien status of open projects
- Participate in a monthly AR review
- Research
- Assist Sr. Credit Manager in establishing new accounts, including research, follow-up and set-up
- Perform credit reviews of new and existing customers, considering information such as financial information of the customers, trade and bank references, publications and information provided by sales, in order to determine their credit worthiness
- Recommend credit limits for new and existing accounts in accordance with company guidelines and procedures
