Job purpose:  The Asset Manager will provide direction, control, and vision that will drive inventory integrity, accuracy, and reporting. The Asset Manager will create, establish, and reinforce policies and procedures on the handling of damaged and obsolete goods.  They will manage and monitor the RTV process as well as create a process for customer returns.  This role requires a seasoned inventory professional who is technically strong in inventory best practices, quality assurance, asset management, damage mitigation, obsolescence, and process control.  They will work collaboratively with the DC and Branch leadership team as well as the finance department.  Strong data and analytical skills are required.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Create and establish policies and procedures on the handling of damages and disposal process. 
  • Work with purchasing and the branches to identify obsolete equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory levels and costs reported in financial statements, as well as ensuring the integrity of inventory balances in the branches and DC
  • Manage inventory movement to ensure that transactions are posted accurately and on time, including merchandise transfers in and out
  • Work with DC and Branch leadership to implement shortage control programs to reduce loss; participate in system design changes when necessary
  • Complete audits focusing on inventory and shrink; produce reports summarizing findings
  • Driving continuous improvement
  • Develop and publish scorecards for branches, corporate, and the DC
  • Develop a return to vendor program working with accounting & purchasing.
  • Establish procedures for customer returns (including damages)

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred; The Asset Manager will have established a proven track record of success in prior inventory/accounting roles with substantial inventory responsibilities. The Asset Manager should have strong technical accounting experience, knowledge and understanding of GAAP as it relates to inventory and experience in multiple businesses. The candidate must be committed to continuous process improvement.
