Job purpose:  The role of the Director of Demand & Supply planning is to drive the overall process of managing a demand signal for the all product types and customer channels for the purpose of driving the supply chain and enabling sales with optimal margin.  This person will manage the corporate purchasing team and provide leadership, mentorship, & guidance.  This role requires a seasoned inventory professional who is technically strong in inventory best practices, GAAP, replenishment & demand planning systems, and demonstrates leadership ability. This position is responsible for both daily tasks and overall policy compliance to help ensure the accuracy and efficacy of corporate & branch inventory. Strong data and analytical skills are required. This individual will lead and implement necessary KPI scorecards and benchmarking activities.  They will play a major role in Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process working collaboratively with purchasing, sales, operations, and branch management.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Manage all aspects of purchasing & inventory.  Design & execute strategy to meet company short-term and long-term demand planning and purchasing management requirements. 
  • Working with Sales and Finance on a true SIOP process.  (Sales Inventory & Operational planning).  Leads the SIOP meetings
  • Leading the Purchasing team
  • Analyze, recommend and execute enhancements to inventory stocking schemes, fulfillment process flows and optimization opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Operations team, and with individual sites to identify improvements to drive efficiencies, and productivity.
  • Evaluate operational demand with current inventory levels and communicate shortages.
  • Ensure inventory control and cycle count programs meet Finance expectations and are consistent across all sites.
  • Develop reporting for Finance regarding cycle count results and adjustments.
  • Assist in the testing and roll out of any ERP and or fulfillment system upgrades, enhancements or new packages.
  • Manage the input parameters of the SXE forecast models
  • The creation and management of a true demand plan – including SKU channel forecasting in SXE
  • Using that S&OP process to not only buy smarter, but turning outputs into relevant business insights for the executive team and internal stakeholders
  • Aligning the demand plan with brand strategic decisions and financial objectives
  • Building collaborative forecasting processes with the planning team and sales
  • Evaluating actual performance to forecasted demand, analyzing the variances, and initiating appropriate corrective actions
  • Coaching and developing a team of professional an d skilled demand planners

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required; Strong interpersonal skills needed, including facilitation and consensus building.  Excellent analytical skills required.  History of leading teams and achieving results through others.  8+ years of experience within the supply chain or sales planning process preferred.  Detailed knowledge of demand planning methodology and sales strategy.  Strong computer skills required.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
